Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G, Mi 9 Explorer, and Mi 9 SE hands-on review

Xiaomi was among the movers and shakers to hold a special press event in Barcelona ahead of MWC. It introduced its first 5G smartphone – an upgraded Mi Mix 3 5G model. It also showed the Mi 9 Explorer Edition and the Mi 9 SE.

Xiaomi’s first 5G offering is the Mi Mix 3 5G, as mentioned a while ago. It’s pretty much the same device we reviewed a few weeks ago, upgraded with the Snapdragon 855 chipset and its X50 5G modem.

Xiaomi also brought the Mi 9 Explorer Edition to Barcelona. It’s a Mi 9 through and through, with a faux-transparent back panel, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.

Finally, we also saw the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE for the first time at the Barcelona event. It’s a cheaper version of the Mi 9 with a smaller AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 712 chip, a similar triple rear camera and a 3,070mAh battery.
