They’re often a bit more experimental than mainstream AAA studio efforts and may have funky art styles or directions that make them truly unique, and we love experimenting with them. Disco Elysium
This role-playing game (RPG) really takes the genre to new places simply because of how dedicated it is to the subject matter, letting you interact not only with a range of characters and locations, but also with your own psyche in internal conversations.

The forgotten city
Another classic-themed game, The Forgotten City puts you in a time warp in an ancient Roman refuge where if even a single person commits a sin, everyone dies. Your job is to find out why and how this is happening and see if you can escape.
It’s a brilliant mystery game that sees you face off against a fiendish cast and decide who to trust over time according to the evidence, and with multiple endings to discover you’ll surely find your own way through the game Find.
Outer Wilds
If you like the sound of a mystery game then another new classic arrives in the form of Outer Wilds and its expansion DLC Echoes of the Eye. It’s a brilliant game that also revolves around a time warp and this time tasks you with finding out why a small solar system collapses each time.
You’ll slowly piece things together while going through loops, deciphering ancient texts and figuring out exactly what happened to light up the touchpaper and end the life cycle of this solar system. It’s a fascinating experience and we recommend going in with as little knowledge as possible.
The Wayless
A game about the joy of movement, The Pathless is an opulent experience. You play a slayer sent by her people to stop the spread of a corruption across the land, and you do so by defeating giant beasts one by one occupying territories.
The twist is that you move by matching shots with your bow, hitting targets one by one to build speed, and just navigating its beautiful open world and finding new secrets and upgrades is immensely satisfying.

In Chicory, an art and self-esteem game, you’ll take on the power of a magic brush and the responsibility of keeping an adorable little world colorful while its colors fade. It’s about much more than that, though, gently tackling issues like mental health and imposter syndrome.
You have the freedom to paint and draw your way through cleverly designed puzzles, gaining powers along the way, all with a beautiful soundtrack, great art, and impressive writing. This is a treat for all art fans.

Like The Pathless, this game is all about movement and the feeling it gives you. Set at the end of days when a civilization falls into ruin, you set out to see if you can fix things by once again defeating giant monsters to undo their corruption from the land remove.
It has an art style that we’ll remember for years to come, and the feeling of skating through its vast environments is just perfect – plus it’s not a very long game, so don’t feel overwhelmed by it.
