It looks like Activision is finally ready to unveil the new Call of Duty game, with a new press kit announcing a big reveal of sorts for next Monday, August 10th.

Special Call of Duty news site Charlie Intel shared the press kit on Twitter: a mysterious box that warns against opening it until 12:00 p.m. ET on August 10 – that’s 5 p.m. Monday afternoon for those of us in the UK.

in one follow up tweet The website reveals it was instructed to text a specific number on the day so the code to open the box would appear – although Activision is presumably hoping none of the recipients get impatient and use a crowbar to do so.

Activision has been unusually late in revealing this year’s Call of Duty game, leading some to worry it might not come at all. However, last week the company confirmed in an earnings call that “the next premium installment for Call of Duty” is indeed on the way in 2020 and will be co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software.

“The game is looking incredible right now and internally people are having a blast playing the campaign mode as well as the online modes the developers are very well known for,” Activision President Rob Kostich said on the earnings call second quarter. “And so in terms of timing, all I can say is that I suspect you’ll be hearing more about it pretty soon.”

However, leaks have consistently referred to it as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, making it the fifth game in Treyarch’s espionage subdivision of the franchise.

Of course, we’re expecting it to come out on the PlayStation 5 and next-gen Xbox Series X alongside current-gen consoles and PC, but hopefully we’ll find out more on Monday.
